How to Get Organized
Nothing can send a college student into crisis faster than finding out there is a test that he/she didn't know about or forgot unless it's the assignment that can’t be found that's due in the next class.Ìý
Organization is key to success. ÌýNo one has time to spare. It's important to not waste time looking for missing papers, files, or textbooks. Ìý
Below are some strategies to help you get and stay organized:
Ìý
1.Ìý Use Office 365
Office365 is offered to students free to help with work expected as part of your time at ±¬ÁÏTV. ÌýYou can work on your assignments at any location with Internet and save the completed work back into the cloud to be able to access when you are back on campus. ÌýNo flash drives to manage!
Ìý
2.Ìý Organize Your Digital Self
Organizing your digital self is just as important and organizing the things that you physically see and use on a daily basis. ÌýA lot of time can be wasted searching for files and images. Ìý
Ìý
3.Ìý Develop a Strategy to Record Your Great Ideas
As you read and learn you are going to have many thoughts. ÌýSome will be questions to ask, others will be things to consider as you continue your progress toward your degree. ÌýRecording them in a logical format will allow you to go back and reference them. ÌýConsider using the notes app on your phone or EvernoteÌýfor this purpose. ÌýYou can also carry a small notebook with you most of the time to allow you to record your great ideas.
Ìý
4.Ìý Use Your Calendar to Allocate Your Time and To-Do List
What's important makes it on your calendar. ÌýUsing your calendar or task list in your electronic calendar is a great way to manage tasks. ÌýIf a task doesn't get completed during the day on which it's been placed on your calendar, it moves to the next day. Ìý
Ìý
5. ÌýOnce You Have a System, Keep It!Ìý
Getting organized is a lot of hard work. ÌýIf you get things organized in a manner that works for you, don't let it fall apart. If you work just a few minutes each day, you can keep things organized and reduce the amount of time you need to find things.
