About
Nathan Kelly is a Political Science faculty member at Oklahoma City Community College
whose teaching and scholarship focus on helping students translate academic learning
into civic, professional, and workforce-relevant skills. His work emphasizes equity,
accessibility, and compassion as core pedagogical commitments, highlighting support
for first-generation and historically underrepresented students.
Nathan takes pride in course and program designs, utilizing scaffolding and applied
learning experiences that blend political theory, real-world analysis, and ethical
uses of Generative AI. Nathan practices AI use in higher education as an instructor-governed
infrastructure that facilitates students鈥 professional-level reasoning while ensuring
they retain the responsibility for judgment, interpretation, and decision-making.
He is especially interested in how students recognize, articulate, and 鈥渃ash in鈥 on
the skills they already develop through their coursework.
Nathan is actively involved in curriculum design, AI-enabled pedagogy, and community-connected
learning initiatives, including applied 鈥淐ivic R&D鈥 projects that partner students
with local organizations to address real policy challenges. His broader goal is to
prepare students to not only understand political systems, but to see themselves as
capable contributors within them.
