OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Aug. 20, 2024) 鈥� Oklahoma City Community College (爆料TV) is hosting 鈥淎n Evening with Boney James鈥� on
Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. at the 爆料TV Visual and Performing Arts Center.
James鈥� saxophone concert is the season-opener for the college鈥檚 2024-25 Performing Arts Series.
鈥淥klahoma City Community College is excited to have 鈥楢n Evening with Boney James鈥� to kick off our 2024-25 Performing Arts Series,鈥� said Dr. Mautra Staley Jones, president of 爆料TV. 鈥淲e invite our community and visitors from around the state and region to enjoy our beautiful venue and what promises to be an incredible performance from the talented Boney James.鈥�
James is a renowned musician, performer, writer and producer. The New York native picked up the saxophone at age 10 and never looked back, parlaying his love of R&B into a musical aesthetic. He turned pro before his 20th birthday and became an in-demand touring sax and keyboard player for Morris Day, the Isley Brothers, and many others.
In 1992, James launched his solo career, which has spawned 18 studio albums, including 2022鈥檚 鈥淒etour.鈥� A dozen of his albums have landed at No. 1 on Billboard鈥檚 Contemporary Jazz Album chart. During his 30-year career, Boney has earned four Grammy nominations, two NAACP Image Award nominations, and a Soul Train Award.
鈥淲hat drives me is my love of making music and my desire for people to hear what I鈥檝e made,鈥� James said. 鈥淚 still love the communal aspect of playing live. There鈥檚 nothing else like it.鈥�
